## *Overview*
_Reunite and build a life together in Italy._
Italy’s Family Visa — also known as the Family Reunification Visa — allows non-EU family members to join their loved ones who are already legally residing in Italy. It’s a route for spouses, children, and dependent parents to live together in one of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally rich countries.
To qualify, the sponsoring family member in Italy must hold a valid residence permit and prove they have the financial means and appropriate accommodation to support the family unit. The process begins with an application for a 'nulla osta' (entry clearance) from the local immigration office in Italy. Once approved, the family member abroad can apply for the visa through the relevant consulate.
*Eligibility Criteria:*
- Sponsor Requirements: The family member residing in Italy (the sponsor) must hold a valid residence permit with a validity of at least one year, issued for purposes such as work, study, asylum, or family reasons.
- Eligible Family Members: Spouse, children under 18 (including adopted children), dependent children over 18 unable to support themselves due to health conditions, and dependent parents without adequate support in their home country.
- Financial Means: The sponsor must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support the family members, typically not less than the annual social allowance amount plus an additional 50% for each family member to be reunited.
- Accommodation: Proof of suitable housing that meets hygienic and sanitary standards, verified by a certificate of habitability from the local municipality.
After arriving in Italy, the applicant must apply for a residence permit within eight days. This permit grants the right to live in Italy long term and includes access to work, healthcare, and education.
If you're looking to reunite your family in a stable, welcoming environment, Italy offers a well-established path to do so.
